Purpose of County Master Gardener Websites

To provide and increase web access and presence for local Master Gardener programs through the University of Minnesota Extension web site. Web presence will increase exposure of the local Master Gardener program, increase citizen access to local Master Gardener and other Extension resources, and improve communication among Master Gardener volunteers. UM Extension will support the initial setup and design of county Master Gardener websites.

Extension will provide:

• A customized MG website built on a blogging platform.
• Space on the University server.
• Limited user support.

Local MG programs will be responsible for:

• Identifying a webmaster for maintenance of the site (no web experience is necessary)
• Writing and editing content to be placed on the web page

Local MG web sites can be used to:

• Provide local horticulture information
• Feature local MG stories or articles
• Provide a more localized calendar of events
• Share information in a “MG Only” area
• Other uses as determined by the county Master Gardener group
